AI safety has become one of the most important issues of our time, with governments and businesses struggling to understand the limitations and the guardrails that we should place on AI. Our Alignment Index speaks to the risks of models when they're in the hands of real people. These are not theoretical risks, but rather the actual observed harms that we see based on tens of millions of users' prompts. We build this off of three safety signals to start: unauthorized actions, false attributions, and deceptive completions. We'll add more safety signals and continue to measure frontier models as they release to help people, labs, and companies better understand safety trade-offs.”
