Introducing Dobot Lumo: The All-Terrain Humanoid

“Most humanoid robots can only walk on a flat lab floor. This is DOBOT LUMO, a 1.3-metre all-terrain humanoid. It's closer to a child's height and can walk on grass, sand, and cobblestone, then moves straight into a home or office. The waist rotates as it throws a ball, and the role changes completely. It can even recognize emotion and provide proactive care instead of waiting to be told. For example, it can detect that the owner has fallen asleep, then turn off the lights and close the curtains. All of this is thanks to its multimodal emotion recognition system, so the robot can walk over to you and offer a tissue if it detects you're sad. It can also learn from its environment over time.”

    Advanced Learning & Interaction Capabilities

“The Dobot Lumo is also a teaching platform for coursework in SLAM, motion control, and robot vision. It's equipped with a 3D depth camera, a 2D lidar, and a 9-axis IMU. DOBOT has said almost nothing about the hardware, like the battery life, the motor, or the price. But the company has already sold over 50,000 industrial robots, and it's clear that the next big robotics revolution will be in humanoid robots.”
