Scene filters
Scene filter components for Remotion
Camera lens, CRT, VHS, hologram, underwater, halftone, security-camera, and regional pixelation treatments that wrap an existing scene.
A scene filter keeps the underlying composition editable while applying a consistent treatment to the completed frame. The catalog demos use deterministic content, but each filter accepts arbitrary React children.
These are useful when the treatment communicates context — surveillance, print, display capture, water, or holographic projection — rather than as decoration on every cut.

ASCII Render Pass
hfrmA slotted scene renders as live ASCII: a canvas samples the source's luminance grid (rasterized once at mount) and draws glyphs from a density ramp charset; resolution steps coarse to fine as the piece resolves, then holds legible-fine.
Camera Lens
rcnPut a scene behind real glass: resolution falls off toward the corners, highlights bloom through the optics, colour fringes at the edges — a screencast that reads as filmed rather than rendered.
CRT Screen
rcnPut a scene behind curved glass: the picture bulges out to the corners, an RGB phosphor mask and scanlines ride the curve, bright areas flood the mask, and the tube falls away into darkness at the rim.
Halftone Print
rcnPrint a scene onto paper: each colour separates onto its own rotated screen of dots sized by the ink under them, slightly out of register the way a real press runs.
Hologram
rcnPlay a scene as a projection: a ghost double shimmers off the image, emission lines structure it, and only what is bright enough carries through the dark volume it hangs in.
On-Screen Display Effect
hfrmGrid, scanline, vignette, and sheen overlay plus a 3D-warp wrapper class that makes footage read as if playing on a physical display
Ordered Dither Pass
hfrmBayer-matrix ordered dithering quantizes a slotted scene (rasterized once at mount): the image emerges from pure 2-tone noise to clean, or dissolves the reverse. Stateless per frame, never error diffusion.
Pixelate Region
rcnCover rectangles of a scene with an opaque mosaic while the rest passes through untouched — redact keys, addresses and personal data before a demo goes out.
Security Cam
rcnRun a scene through a cheap recorder: macroblocks flatten under a starved bitrate, colour resolution collapses to half the luma, blacks crush and shadows crawl with sensor noise.
Underwater Ripple
rcnHold a scene under moving water: every pixel is read through a layered refraction field that closes on a whole number of cycles, with colour fringing where the water bends hardest.
VHS Filter
rcnHold a scene under analog tape: chroma bleeds sideways off every edge, rows wobble out of line, the bottom of the frame tears on the head switch, and luma noise settles over all of it.
